Facts and Events
Thus far, she has only been found on Lavina (Ward) Lewis' death certificate. Her first name on that document is difficult to read. Nancy Ward, age 65, appears in the 1850 census (Guilderland, Albany County, pg. 354). Andrew Ward is listed as the head of the household with his wife Rachael as well as Frederick Ward and Henry Miller. Henry is assumed to be Nancy (Miller) Ward's brother. In addition, the next house in the census is headed by John W. Ward (wife Sally) and the next is headed by William Ward (wife Maria). Further down (pg. 357), there is another John Ward (wife Elisabeth). William and the second John Ward are the correct age to be Nancy (Miller) Ward's children but the first John Ward is 56 years old. Nancy and her husband's birth and death estimates as well as the existence of the other relatives are based solely on the assumption that Lavina (Ward) Lewis' mother and the woman in this census entry are the same person (this is supported by the fact that a Miller lived at the Ward house). 1850 Census - Albany County - Guilderland - pg. 354 - dwelling 114: Andrew Ward, age 29 Rachael (sp?)
