Mrs. [Alice] Reighley is a daughter of Alvin and Nancy (Driver) Minkler. Her father was born in Geauga County, Ohio December 10, 1824, and her mother was born January 30, 1830, in Maryland, and came with her parents, Wesley and Ruth (Barnes) Driver, to Erie County in 1835. The members of the Driver family were farmers, spent the rest of their lives in Vermilion Township, and were members of the Methodist Church. Alvin Minkler was also a farmer and died in Vermilion Township May 15, 1904. His parents were John and Asenath (Call) Minkler, who were born in Grand Isle, Vermont, and coming to Ohio settled in Geauga County and later in Erie County. They died in Vermilion Township, Mr. Minkler at the age of eighty-six and his wife at eighty. He was a whig in politics, and the family were Methodists. Mrs. Reighley was the oldest of five children. Her brother Orlando is a prosperous farmer in Lorain County, and has two sons, Earl and Clifford, and a daughter, Luverne. The sister Mina, who died in 1912, was the wife of Jacob Lippus, who is a farmer at Berlin Heights, and has two children, Winfield and Alvin. Mrs. Reighley's sister Dora is the widow of M.E. Buckley, and she lives at Brownhelm in Lorain County, and has three children, Eleanor, Carmen and Nellie. Her brother Elmer is a farmer in Lorain County, and has five children - Lee, Hazel, Ruth, Clyde, and Laura... Mrs. Reighley was reared in the United Brethran Church, and her husband was a democrat in national politics.


Nancy had five children, all of whom were living in 1900.

Alice M. Minkler, born Mar 8, 1850, died Oct. 19, 1917, she was a school teacher. Married Benjamin Frank Reighley on December 23, 1869. Benjamin Frank Reighly was born Mar 31, 1849 in Doylestown, Wayne Cty, OH and died Sep 29, 1909 in Berlin Hts., OH Their 3 children were: 1. Alice May Reighley (died 1945, elementary school teacher, never married) 2. Leona Ann Reighley (born Oct 27, 1873, died Dec 29, 1940, married William Coultrip and had 2 children: Merle May Coultrip born Mar 1895 and Myron Paul Coultrip born Jun 6, 1904) 3. Orlando Peter Reighly (born Aug 23, 1875, died Sep 23, 1946 in Berlin Hts, OH , married Helen Champney, graduated Ohio Northern University, was a teacher and later a farmer)

Orlando Minkler was born Jan 5, 1854 and died Jan 26, 1926 in Lorain, Ohio. He was a farmer Married Ida A. Carpenter (born Ohio in 1856, her father was born in New York, and her mother in Ohio) They had 3 children: 1. Luverne (born 1878) 2. Earl (born 1882) 3. Clifford Gilbert (born 1897) In 1920, Orlando was in Sheffield, Lorain Cty, OH living next door to brother Elmer's family on Lake Breeze Rd.

Mina Minkler was born Jul 9, 1859 and died May 4, 1912 in Berlin Hts, OH. She married in 1879 to Jacob M. Lippus who was born 1855 in Vermilion, OH They had 2 children: 1. Winfield Scott Lippus (born Aug 26, 1880, he married Mildred Driver who was born Oct 17, 1885) 2. Alva Wayne Lippus (born May 21, 1888, he married Rachael Knapp)

Dora Minkler was born in 1862 and died in Feb 2, 1931 in Brownhelm. She married M. Eugene Buckley and they had 3 children: 1. Eleanor Buckley (born Feb 19, 1885, married Dr. Charles Frosh, and had a daughter Catherine Frosh born Oct 14, 1915) 2. Carmen Buckley (born Aug 2, 1887) 3. Nellie Buckley (born Aug 30, 1889)

Elmer Ellsworth Minkler was born Jun 10, 1865 and died Jun 26, 1942 in Lorain, Ohio. He married Kittie M. Carkins (born 1867 in Iowa) and had 5 children: 1. Lee Clifton Minkler (born Dec 1, 1887) 2. Hazel Lucille Minkler (born May 20, 1890, still single and living with parents at age 29) 3. Ruth Irma Minkler (born Jun 14, 1892, still single and living with parents at age 27) 4. Clyde Allison Minkler (born Jan 9, 1897, still single and living with parents at age 24) 5. Laura Mae Minkler (born Sep 28, 1899, still single and living with parents at age 20)

Alvin Minkler was born Dec 1824 in Geauga Cty, Ohio and was in Vermilion, Erie Cty, OH on the 1900 census. He married Nancy on Dec 24, 1848 in Vermilion, Ohio. Nancy was born Jan 30, 1830 in Maryland. Alvin died in Joppa, Vermilion Twp, Erie Cty, OH on May 15, 1904
