Mozelle Giddens was the daughter of Silas C. Giddens and his aunt, Sabra Ann Giddens, daughter of Thomas, Silas' grandfather. They were about the same age, and when Silas returned home from the Civil War, they must have let their passions run away. They were never married, as far as is known, but they had three children together before Silas married Mary Ann Taylor.

Mozelle was never married, and was said to be a little mentally

handicapped, as is common in cases where intermarriage has taken place, although Mozelle's brother, William Arthur Giddens, who had the same parents, was said to be a good doctor of animals.

Emory Lane Giddens had a marble marker made to put on her grave about 2001. Her old original marker was a cement slab with her name inscribed in it with a stick. Her name had all but disappeared, but could barely be made out if one looked at it at the right angle. It gave me a good feeling to make the marker and put it on the grave of someone who probably led a somewhat unnoticed life.
