Why Moses is here

I know that having Moses as a son of Samuel instead of a son of Nathaniel is a bit of a surprise. Some time back a descendant of Moses joined the Whitmore DNA project. I tried to document his line, but there is no birth record in Barbour (or in Vol 1 of the Land Records. I looked at Nathaniel's probate which is in Manwaring, and one of two daughters is listed as his only child, and Nathaniel's marriage date to a widow is long after Moses must have been born. Ok, look for a prior marriage -- none found, and that still wouldn't account for his daughter being an only child. So, nest thought, and illegitimate son. Went through all the court records, figuring JCW was just too tactful to mention this. No results, so I gave up. Later I just happened to be looking at the early records of the First Church and stumbled on his baptism which had both parents named. And he fits into the time frame perfectly. I'll delete this after a month or so.
