Moses Tullis (1779) Family Bible
This is the genealogical information contained in the Family Bible of Moses Tullis (1779) and his wife Polley Blalock. They lived in Edgefield District, South Carolina, and in Lincoln County, Georgia. According to this Bible record, they had 20 children, but only name 10 here. James Monroe Tullis, whose birth is recorded herein, was my great-great-grandfather.
This Bible was in the possession of Miss Annie McMahon and Mrs. Katie (McMahon) Scott (descendants of Moses Tullis, Jr., named herein) of Baytown, TX, as of 1981. I had the opportunity of visiting with them at that time and photographing the family history pages of the Bible. I understand that they have both passed away now and the current location of the Bible is unknown. [Notes about Moses' date of birth:
The family bible could be interpreted as saying either "1777" or "1779" as his year of birth. Neither is consistent with the obituary in the newspaper, which implies 1771.]
