  4. Enlisted in Massachusetts militia in Capt. Jacob Brown's Co., Col. James Easton's Regt., under Maj. Gen. Philip Schuyler.
    Served for various time periods as an assistant commissary- Albany, Ticonderoga, Crown Point, Saratoga Falls, Fort Ann, Fort Miller, Stillwater, Newport, RI, Coxsachie
    "He was in no battle except a small skirmish while he was at Fort Miller, that he had sent off provisions, tallow, hides, etc. under the guards of Gen. Nicholson's brigade to escort a fleet of batteaus to Saratoga Falls, that here he was exposed to a small scouting party of the enemy about 30 in number, who were skulking along the river, when they were discovered and sent to rout by a handful of men"
