But there are several events in his life that indicate this Moses is about 5 years older than the Moses that Pope uses, hence a different person, and Pope gives no actual evidence. He is known as Moses Cheney, Jr. through 1792, but based on the usage of the time, that does not mean that Moses Cheney, Sr., was his father.
