- Evidence for Mordecai's parentage
Based on his age, (born about1784), Mordecai would have been about 6 years old in 1790, counted as a male under 16 in someone's household. Born in Anson County, North Carolina, he could only have been the son of Lewis Meador or Thomas Meador (son of Jason). His known associations were with children of Lewis (see 1820 Census), not Thomas; and in his move to Alabama, he showed no association with known descendants of Jason or Thomas.
