I could not find her (definitively) in census records prior to her marriage. The original WeRelate posting showed her as the daughter of Malissa Boyd and her husband Adam Grimsley, but this does not appear to be the case. If Malissa was her mother (as supported by Minnie's obituary), then she was likely an illegitimate child, raised by someone else. Her father might or might not have been a Robert Boyd - it was not unusual for illegitimate children to make up names of their parents for official records. The maiden name of Springer for her mother in Minnie's marriage record might be another case of a made up name.

Alternately, she was the daughter of a Robert Boyd and a Melissa Springer (who possibly later married a Burnett), as a more literal reading of her records suggests. However, there are no other records to support this.--DataAnalyst 19:16, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
