Miles Tarpley Nix was the son of James Harrison Nix and Jane Adeline Stephens, and the grandson of Jennings Nix and his second wife Temperance (Tempy) Poole Ellison. Miles is the third son in this family. His oldest brother was Joseph Early and he is discussed in his section. the second brother , John Leasel , died as a nine year old. The forth son, James Claude died as an eleven year old. Miles appeared at the Marshall County Draft Board on 5 June 1917. He listed his hhome as Walnut Grove #2 and his age as 21. Stated that he was single and did not list any dependants. He was listed as killed in action on 6 Aug 1918. I am attempting to fill in the other details with when he entered service, what unit and where was he when he was listed KA. I am told that there was a plaque on the Etowah County Court House wall At Gadsden, honoring the World Waar one dead, and that Miles was included. But it was removed when the Courthouse was remodeled and has not been replaced. That may have additional details.
