Married later in life to a woman he met in the tuberculosis sanatorium. He, himself, spent quite a few years hospitalized in the sanatorium. He was a shy man with a quiet sense of humor. He was overshadowed by his sisters who were all out-going individuals. He was contented once he married Helen.

Michael's father came with three of his children (Listed as Rosina, Michael, and Katharina) to Rochester. New York via New YorkC Ellis Island. They sailed on the Mount Clinton, sailing from Hamburg. Information is from the ship manifest. It stated that their passage was paid for by father Michael's nephew, Stefan Holczimmer, and that they were going to his house at 31 Oakman Street, Rochester, New York. It also noted that Michael, Sr. had been in Harrisburg, PA from 1907-1909. Michael Sr. had $200 upon landing. Michael Jr. was listed as 5' tall, blond hair, and grey eyes.
