About Toomy Family

Some records exist of the Toomy family of Knox and Roane County, Tennessee. Michael Toomy appears to be the father of this family. One of the likely children of Michael Toomy, Julia Toomey named her eldest son Michael Toomey McClellan, which appears to be the likely name of her father based upon naming patterns. Michael Toomy is on record as being one of the signers in Knox County asking for the creation of Gallatin County, Tennessee in 1801 with a William Toomy and Ambrose Toomy. He also is the only "Toomy" listed on the 1805 Roane County Tax List indicating that he was the likely head of family paying tax at that time. Michael Toomy's Estate Inventory was filed in Roane County in 1818 [he apparently died intestate]. Additional research and records are needed on this family to prove these suspected relationships.
