From A Brief History of Vinton Co, pg. 55:

"The Disciple Church located a mile from the northern boundary of the township (across the road to the west from the Methodist Church which was located on Jonathon Fee land - Methodist Church on the east side of road; Disciple Church on west side of road.) was located on the land of Hiram Swaim. His son, Walter, only living member of the family (CA 1945), went to church school there as a boy. His grandfather (Hiram's father, Michael Swaim) died in the church at the close of prayer. Hiram Swaim aided the McArthur Disciples in building their church. After his death, his widow consented to the sale of the church property on their land, to aid in payment of indebtedness of the McArthur congregation of the same faith."
