Michael was 12 years old when he emigrated with his parents, Peter and Elisabeth, from Germany to America. They emigrated in 1874. Even though he had 2 brothers born before him(Johann I and Johann II), his older brothers died young and Michael grew up as the oldest of his siblings. He married Mary Jane Peters 15Jan1884 in Toluca,IL and raised his family in Dana,LaSalle,IL. He became Road Commissioner of Bennington township in Marshall county, IL. The town of Toluca is in Bennington township. He built his own 2 story Victorian house near Minonk,IL. As an adult, he was around 5ft.8in.tall and had a solid but slender build. He is buried in the St.Patrick Cemetery in Minonk,Woodford, IL. He died of pneumonia.
