1775, appears in civil record in Setauket, Suffolk, NY, USA. 1776, appears in civil record in Hempstead, Nassau, NY, USA "The Petition of Michael Dennison of the Parish of Saint Mary in the County of York Humbly [sheweth?] That your Petitioner served His late Majesty King George the Third faithfully as a Private in the fifth Battalion of Delancey's Corps Commanded by Lieutenant Colonel [Crosgan? Grosgan?} that your Petitioner served seven years, and was discharged at the termination of the struggle with the United States of America. That your Petitioner was present, and took an active part in the following Engagements, viz. Savannah, at the siege of Ninety Six, at the Eutaw Springs, at [Brier?} Creek, at Musgrove's Mills and at several others. That your Petitioner received [His?} wounds in the service of his country. That your Petitioner never had any land from Government. That your Petitioner is in the ninety-fifth year of his age and not in affluent circumstances.
