Will Abstract
- Will of Michael Coons, written 17 March 1803.
- Names: "my beloved wife Rebeckah Coons, all my stock of every kind, and all my household furnature and moveables of every kind to despose of as she sees cause for her support, also the third of my land where I now dwell I give to her to live on with the above said Articles untill the day of her death or while she remains a widow."
- Item, "I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph all the land whereon I now dwell to him his heirs and assigns forever."
- Item: "But if my son Joseph dies without an heir the land shall be sold after the death of my wife or her marriage and the money shall be devided among all my children thats is then alive but if my wife marries again, her third of the land shall return to my son Joseph, and shall have one horse beast one Cow and one bed and what is left of my stock and movable shall be equally devided between my wife and children except Joseph he shall have no part in the stock or movables."
- Item. "If my son Joseph dies without an heir his wife (Rebeckah) Deborah shall have a childs part in the land and if my wife remains a widow till her death, after her death the stock and moveables that is left shall be devided among my children as aforesaid."
- I constitute and ordain my friend Joseph Witt and my son Joseph Coons Executors of this my last will and testament.

Michael Counts "purchased from The Honorable Thomas Lord Fairfax 236a in Shannandoah (sic) County dated the 11th day of March 1779. "Michael Counts's Deed for 236 acres in Shannandoah County 1779. Names in deed: Morgan, Man__ham Marshall, Richard Biggs or Riggs, Miller.
Michael Counts sold this same tract in 1783, with his wife Rebecca Counts signing (to release dower). Michael was in Green, North Carolina by 1784 he owned 640 acres of land; this would become Jefferson County, Tennessee. Michael died abt. 1804. Michael and Rebecca Counts/Coons/Koontz had the following children:
Jacob Coons m. Judah Tackett ?, they moved to Tuscaloosa County, AL Dec 21 1825 John Coons, Sr and Catherine his wife moved to Overton County, Tennessee 1825 (Catherine may have been Carlock). Rebecca Coons and Peter Tackett moved to Franklin County, AL 1825. Margaret Coons and Phillips Roberts lived in Sevier County, Tennessee. Elizabeth Coons and Daniel Morrow to Bath County, VA 1826 Michael Coons of Jefferson County, Tennessee (not sure who he married)
