The following family history was posted on Meshack's Find-a-Grave memorial page by Robbie Wilson; copied and pasted here with his permission:

The full name and date of birth for Meshack Jackson, my double great-great-great-uncle, comes from his father's Bible record. Meshack married Sarah Jane "Janie" Liles on April 6, 1890, in Morgan County, Tennessee (they were married by his maternal uncle Lindsay Cooper) and passed away that same year before the birth of their only child and daughter, Zella (Jackson) Ruffner, on January 23, 1891. According to Zella, Meshack and Janie were residents of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, when he died of pnuemonia.* Janie later remarried Levi Columbus "Lum" Smith on January 19, 1902, in Morgan County and had other children. Meshack's burial in the Jackson-Lyles Cemetery was confirmed by William Elijah "Lige" Davis (1908-2002).** Meshack is buried in the same row as his parents, Rev. William R. and Mahala. In this row are the following graves (facing the headstones left to right): son Staples Jackson, his wife Lina, the original grave of son Joseph Jackson (his headstone was later moved to the Davis Cemetery in Coalfield), mother Mahala, father Rev. William R., and two graves marked with rocks (one is Meshack's).

(*Typhoid was listed as the cause in "The Descendants of Abner Clint Liles" in Coming Home to Coalfield.)

(**Lige's mother, Matilda (Liles) Davis, was a sister to Janie.)
