Mervin T. McLaughlin, 82, of 1209 Steubenville Rd. SE, Carrollton died Tuesday evening after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home. A life resident of Carroll County, he was born April 1, 1905 in Lee Twp., Carroll County, a son of the late W. D. and Catherine (Huddleston) McLaughlin. He retired in 1965 as a foreman at the former Carrollton Manufacturing Co. with over 30 years of services and worked as a real estate agent for the Dutton Realty for the past 10 years. He was a member of Carrollton First Presbyterian Church, Carrollton Ruritan Club, Lee Twp. Senior Citizens, Pelican Club and was active in the Carrollton Lions Club, having served as a past president and various other offices.
He was married November 28, 1929 to the former Ruth Kohler, who survives along with a son, Ronald of New Waterford, Ohio: a daughter, Mrs. Larry (JoAnne) Moreland of Newark; two sisters, Mrs. Winfred (Irene) Donaldson of Scroggsfield and Mrs. Bertha Harsh of Harlem Springs; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Allmon-Dugger Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Aeron Davies officiating. Burial will be in Scroggsfield Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and one hour before the services Sunday. The family's favorite contribution is the American Heart Association.
