Notes

At 19, Flem and his brother Melvin joined the Confederates States of America States of America and fought in the War. Melvin never returned and was presumed killed. Flem was wounded at Shilo and as a result had one leg amputated.


The Henderson co. Records book had Melvin joining the Confederate Army shortly after Marring Mary and stated he was taken prisoner at Little Rock,Arkansas, and died in the Federal prision in New York before the war ended in 1865.

1850 Census

Steohen and his family were living in the same household with his brother-in-law , David Allen Owen in Smith County,Texas. Both families move to Henderson Co. Texas later,as the next group had moved from Randolph Co. Alabama into Henderson Co. Texas.
