Obituary

Mavis Marie Lindsay, 80, of Uhrichsville, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in Beacon Pointe Health Care Center at Uhrichsville. A daughter of the late Ray and Emma (Carlisle) Harmon, Mavis was born in her childhood home on July 10, 1928 at Goshen, Ohio. A 1946 graduate of Midvale High School, Mavis married Eugene "Judge" Lindsay on July 14, 1946. Together, they reared four children, Patricia, Eugene, David and Randall. The couple shared 56 years of marriage prior to Judge's passing on June 26, 2003. Mavis was a member of Community of Christ Church at New Philadelphia. She enjoyed painting and often times she painted the crafts her husband made. She is survived by her children, Patricia (Willie) Spears of Uhrichsville, David Lindsay of New Philadelphia and Randall (Nanette) Lindsay of Uhrichsville; her grandchildren, Robert and Jennifer Lindsay both of New Philadelphia and Sarah Mowls of Brunswick, Ohio; two great grandchildren, Tiffany and Racheal Kyle; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Lindsay; two sisters, Eileen "Sis" Roberts of Uhrichsville and Evelyn Sanford of Canton and two brothers, Kenneth (Betty) Harmon of Dover, Ronald (Joyce) Harmon of LaGrange, Ohio. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Judge; a son, Eugene Lindsay who passed away August 3, 2003; a brother, Raymond Harmon and her beloved cat, Whiskers. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Mavis' life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 10 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Priest Dale Gowins officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville. Following the committal, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
