Maurice came to Canada with the 37th Regiment to participate in the War of 1812.

Maurice and Ann moved to New York in 1824 where Maurice gave up his occupation as a tailor in favor of agricultural pursuits. In 1837 they moved to Cleveland Olhipo and in 1839 they went to Pennsylvania where Maurice died in 1854. Ann then returned to Canada where she married Isaac Taylor
