OBITUARY FROM BURLINGTON TIMES-NEWS: Mattie C. Lamm – WHITSETT — Mrs.. Mattie Coble Lamm, 85, of 3374 Old Julian Road, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at Alamance Health Care Center after a critical illness of two months. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Ernest Lamm and the daughter of Mr. Arce M. Coble and Mrs.. Etta Crabtree Coble, both deceased. She was retired from Textile Manufacturing. She was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Mr. Melvin E. Johnson Sr. of Whitsett; two sisters, Mrs.. Pauline Coble of Burlington and Mrs.. Norene James of Snow Camp; two brothers, Mr. Raymond Coble of Snow Camp and Mr. Clyde Coble of Burlington; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miss Wanda Lee Lamm. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church by the Rev. Rick Moser and the Rev. George Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs.. Pauline Coble, 822 Trail One, Burlington. Rich and Thompson Funeral Home in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
