    Dated 3 May 1884. Matthew M. Writer, of the town of Mount Hope, Orange Co., New York, bequeaths to sons George Emmet, Samford P., and Aaron, and daughter Ellen (wife of Edson Remey). Sole ex. son George. Witnesses William Vanamee, Lewis Armstrong, and Alton J. Vail (all of Middletown).

    Matthew died 27 November 1897. G. Emmet Writer petitioned the court on 7 December 1897. Afterward citations were sent. The will was proved 20 December 1897 by William Vanamee and Alton J. Vail at the Surrogate's office in Goshen.
