The will is registered at Scottish Archives of „Margaret Reid 13nov1866 nee Bell. Craigmore, relict of deceased Matthew Reid, Wright and Builder in Glasgow“. Glasgow PO Directory listed a Matthew Reid and Co., joiners, 20 Canon St., in 1820 and 1831; in 1841 he was in addition a trunk maker. The 1841 census records in Rothesay: Matthew REID, merchant (50), Margaret (40), Jessie (11), Jane (9), Georgina (7); Matthew died before his daughter Jane (newspaper report).

From “Burgesses and guild brethren of Glasgow 1751-1846”, Scottish record society: Reg. 28jul1796. Archibald Reid, merchant, as married Jean, 1st daughter to Matthew Wotherspoon and Janet Bogle, daughter to William Bogle, weaver, Burgess and guild brother. Reg. 26jun1810, Matthew Reid, wright, as younger son of Archibald Reid, merchant, burgess and guild brother.

Archibald Reid married Jean Witherspoon 30sep1781 at Barony parish (IGI). Matthew Reid was born 8jan1790 and christened 10jan1790 at Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, son of Archd. Reid and Jean Witherspoon (Latter Day Saints). Mathew Reid was christened 10jan1790 at Gorbals, son of Arch. Reid and Jean Witherspoon (Latter Day Saints).
