Age 84, died October 7, 2001. Matt graduated with honors in 1945, from the University of Toledo, College of Law. After a short stint in the US Army Air Corps, he began practicing in Toledo in 1946, where he continued to practice for 51 years until July, 1997. For many years, he practiced with the firm of Kolb, Jan, Feldman and Ferstle; he was later joined by his sons, Matt, Jr. and Richard, and the firm became Kolb, Kolb, & Kolb; later still the name changed to Kolb & Heban. Matt was the president of the Lucas CO Bar Association in 1954; the president of the Toledo Bar Association in 1965; served on the OH State Bar Association Executive Committee in the early 1980's and served as president of the OH State Bar Association Foundation in 1987. From 1978 to 1997, he served as the Law Director for the City of Rossford. In 2001, he was honored by the UT College of Law as a Distinguished Alumnus. Matt believed that a lawyer's greatest asset was his integrity. He always maintained a sense of humor and was held in respect and affection by his peers. He was also well known for his photography which was prominently displayed around the city. He was a long time active member of the Topics Camera Club. Matt is survived by his wife and companion of 63 years, Bert Kolb; by his three children, Richard Kolb (Teri), Anne Graham (Larry), and John Kolb (Laurie). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Todd, Tyler, Greg, Rachel, Jason, John, Rob, Lindsay, Torry, and Andrew and six great-grandchildren. We shall miss him. He was preceded by his son, Matt, Jr., who died in 1995, from complications from Multiple Sclerosis. Friends may visit Matt at the Rossford-Sujkowski Funeral Home at 830 Lime City Road (near I-75, Buck Road Exit) on Tuesday, October 9 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, October 10 from 2-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 11 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions in Matt's name be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Northwest OH Chapter, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
