A separate report suggests that the father of Matthew Clark was John C. Chambers (b. Ireland, lived in MD and died in Muskingum Co. OH) and mother was Nancy Markmandluff. Mentioned as a caution for added research. See large Chambers genealogy by Doris Campbell that appeared in Gilboa, OH Gazette on Sept. 1981 to provide much of the Chambers data repeated here. Also see book, Portrait and Bibliographical Record: Putnam County, 1896 (found atA separate report suggests that the father of Matthew Clark was John C. Chambers (b. Ireland, lived in MD and died in Muskingum Co. OH) and mother was Nancy Markmandluff Allen Co, Public Library in Ft. Wayne, IN), pg. 94 extensive bibliography of Matthew A. Chambers, born 24Mar1827 in Muskingum County, OH, etc. However, data in above Gazette claims birth date is 1727 There it stated that he was an active Democrat until the Civil War, when he changed to Republican, but never accepted office. A Methodist helping erect the church in Gilboa. A Clerk for his father and summer buying furs from Indians, he entered the hotel business in 1850, farmed section 8 of Blanchard Twsp, and in 1870 purchased the old homestead of 160 acres. It is obvious that the data of this family implies that one son, Matthew C., was born when the father was age 60, which is possible but unlikely and therefore deserves added research. Each record located seems to comply with that data, but it is probable that I have confused two Matthew Chambers people. It also offers prediction that this son was likely at least among the last of the sibling and that the mother was younger than the father. It also offers possibility of a previous marriage for him. It would be worth time to recheck these sources and to find added sources on vital stats for this family. LDS report of Kenneth Carr, 2894 Summer Ln., Madera,CA 93637 lists the parents of Matthew were John C. Chambers (born 1761 at Gilboa, OH) and Nancy Markhandcuff (born 1765 at Gilboa, OH). His report lists Matthew A. Chambers as a son of this Matthew and Mary (Rudabaugh) born 24 Mar 1827 at Muskingum co., OH, died 23 Jul 1901. Logic gives good favor to his data. |
