Mattheus (Teewis,Theunis) is only known as the father of children using patronymic "Teewisz" etc. A personal page is created for him as he's the oldest known person we can give the surname "Barnhoorn".

He may have been known with a different name too, like his probable daughter Janneke, who is called in early records as "van Barsingerhorn" and "van Barnhoorn".

There's a family line still using the surname "Barsingerhorn". In one generation (1680-1700) many of their children were baptised as "Barnhorn", but later returned to using the surname "Barsingerhorn".
