    Mrs. John N. Massey died at her home south of Albia after a protracted illness with cancer, at 3 o'clock Tuesday morning. Matilda, daughter of David and Rebecca Rowles, was born Jan. 7, 1819 at Bath, Steuben Co., N.Y., and at age 3 moved to Indiana with her parents. In Nov. 1841 she married John N. Massey and in 1844 moved to Iowa; 4 children, 2 still living. One son died at age 6 and daughter, Mrs. Elmira Barnes, died four years ago. A son, Orestes H. Massey, and daughter, Mrs. Rosella Rouse, survive. Two brothers, Oliver and Anson Rowles, and three sisters also survive. Buried in Oak View Cemetery, Albia.
