Matilda King was baptised on Christmas Day 1846 at Caddington in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw plaiter called Susan King, formerly Dean, and her husband James King, an agricultural labourer. The family lived at Pipers Bottom in Caddington. Sadly Matilda died when she was only two years old, being buried at Caddington on 29th March 1849.
