"Mason Frank Wardwell, 89, of Rutland Town, died April 7, 2004, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 19, 1914, in West Bridgewater, the son of Frank and Edith (Royce) Wardwell. He graduated from the local high school. He married Mildred Barber on April 26, 1947, in Ludlow. Mr. Wardwell worked for his father in his sawmill. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. Survivors include his wife of Rutland Town; a son, Frank Wardwell of Rutland Town; a daughter, Gayla Wardwell of Cheshire, Ore.; a grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred Wardwell; a sister, Ruby Curtis; and a stepgrandson. Mr. Wardwell will be cremated and his ashes buried in Hillside Cemetery in West Bridgewater." -Rutland Herald 11 April 2004
