(Wt. No. 18287-160-50) I received the following in reference to

my ancestor Zachariah Barnes:

'I have to advise you from the records of this Bureau, it

appears that Zachariah Barnes served as a private in Capt.

Jacob Elliston's Company, Colonel Richards M Johnson's

Regiment of Kentucky Mounted Volunteers, from May 20. 1813

until discharged November 20, 1813; and in Capt McAfee's

Company from November 10, 1814 to May 20, 1815.

'He died September 26, 1848 in Parke County, Indiana.

'Soldier married May 1, 1828 in Anderson County, Kentucky,

Mary, daughter of Rosanna Taylor (widow).

'The widow Mary was allowed bounty land in full satisfaction for

the services rendered, on her application executed May 13, 1851,

while a resident of Parke County, Indiana, aged forty-five years.

'In 1852, referred to as "Mary Boswell formerly Mary Barnes."
