In Albion, Wis., on Sabbath afternoon, Feb. 28th, 1874, of congestion of the lungs, Mrs. P. M. Coon, only remaining child of Mr. and Mrs. David Stillman, aged 45 years. Thus, after nobly fighting the battle of life, the final victory is won, and dear Sister Coon sweetly "rests from her labors."
She was born in Alfred, N. Y., Jan. 25th, 1829. At the organization of the Albion church, in 1843, she was one of the number who covenanted together to hold up the banner of the Cross in this place. She was a useful and devoted Christian, and for the past year, especially, had made very rapid advancement in the divine life. She was evidently maturing for her eternal home in the beautiful "land beyond the river."
She was kind and faithful, ever ready to lend a helping hand in sickness, never neglecting an opportunity to minister to the comfort of the distressed, when it was in her power to do so. To her pastor and his family, she has become greatly endeared as a tried and true friend. In the social meetings of the church, she was a diligent worker.
Sister Coon did not pass through this earthly life without severe trials and afflictions, but they have all worked out for her a "far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." Truly she sleeps in Jesus. J. E. N. B.
