The translation from this life of Miss Mary Richardson Skipwith, the lovely young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel G. Skipwith, on Tuesday last, was peculiarly affecting to her friends, several of whom accompanied the body from this city to Jackson, Miss., where it was interred. The modest and dainty allures of this young girl, combined with a rare beauty, seemed to assure her a roseate life with friends and all the benefits heaven can bestow on those below. At the immature age of seventeen she heard the Divine call, however, and made answer, just a week after the death of her uncle, Mr. Percy Roberts, with whom she was a great favorite. Miss Skipwith had been promised as a debutante for the next winter before her uncle’s death, and would have been the feature of lavish entertainments in her honor but for these sad events.
