Facts and Events
We find her on records also called "Anna Mary". She is on 1850 census, age 11, with father and step-mother Berne Twp., Fairfield Co., Oh.[p 442 fam #147/160] After her father's death, June 1859, she petitioned the Polk Co., Ia., Court on 18 July 1859, stating that her father made a verbal will bequeathing her "$300 as a legacy over and above and in addition to her share of the estate..." Mary is seen on the 1860 census, age 19, with step-mother and siblings, Jefferson Twp., Polk Co., Ia.[p fam #742/697] That she received $300 before June 1862 is shown in abstract #76811 of her father's property, as taken from Probate Journal 1, p. 353. She married George W. SNYDER 31 Mar 1868 in Polk County, Ia.[Family Bible of Rosannah (Rittgers) Findley now in possession of Jon Findley of Tempe, Az.] George was the widower of sister Malinda RITTGERS (See number 16.5) They had no children. Family history also tells us Mary was blind and taught at a school for the blind. On the 1870 census we find George " Snider", 30, born in Pa., with $4637 in Real Estate and $1585 in personal estate in Valley , Polk Co., Ia., with wife Mary, age 29. It is noted on the census record that she is blind. [p 108 fam #115/124] "Anna Mary" died 13 Oct 1884 and is buried in the Rittgers Cemetery.[RitCem] References
