On 9 June 1871, John Peacock of Bardney, wood-man and son of Henry Peacock, wood-man, and Mary Jane Overton of Bardney, daughter of George Overton, wood dealer, were married at the parish church of Bardney, Lincolnshire, by W. Walker. The marriage was witnessed by (Mary's father and brother) George Overton and Henry George Overton.

By 9 October 1871, George Overton, wood dealer, (his son) Henry Overton, wood dealer, and (his son-in-law) John Peacock, farmer, arrived at the Port of New York on the S.S. City of New York. The ship originated in Liverpool and made a stop in Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland.

By 26 October 1871, Mary Jane Overton (“spins[ter]” but actually married at the time) arrived at the Port of New York on the S.S. Wisconsin with her mother, Emma Overton, and five siblings. The ship had originated in Liverpool and made a stop in Queenstown (Cobh), Ireland.
