    Mrs. Mary Kirkpatrick

Elvaston, Ill., March 3.--Mary Turner Orr was born in Boone county, Mo., April 12, 1828, and died at Elvaston, Ill., February 27, 1916. Her age therefore was 87 years, 10 months and 15 days.
When she was 2 years of age she and her parents, William and Elizabeth Orr, removed to Adams county, Ill., and there established a new home.
She was united in marriage to Jackson Kirkpatrick on February 14, 1850. To them five daughters and one son were born. The son, Walter, and one daughter, Mrs. Mary Steinbeck, preceded their mother in death.
The funeral was conducted from her late home on February 28 at 2 p.m. Rev. A. L. McArthur of Hamilton Ill. who chose as the theme his discourse on portions of Proverbs 31:10-18, was in charge of the services. A quartet composed of Miss Jessie Campbell, Miss Ida Pomroy, W. S. Mack and Osa Wallace, accompanied by Mrs. F. C. Hanson, rendered three selections.
Besides her aged husband and four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Alexander, Hope, Ark.; Mrs. Dora Bartholomew of Folsom City, Cal.; Mrs. W. H. Marshall and Mrs. J. R. Kessler of Elvaston, Ill., the deceased leaves 12 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous friends. The casket was borne by the following grand-children: Messrs: Fred and Paul Marshall; Harry Burling; Mark Crank and one nephew, Jasper McAdams.
Her life work was done and well done. Wearied of life's duties and cares and of suffering, she lay down to rest. "Her virtues rise in forms of mercy; of charity, and of love, to rove the world and bless it."
Those from a distance who attended the funeral services were Mr. and [Mrs.] Jasper McAdams of Hamilton, Ill.; W. F. Steinbeck of Quincy; Mrs. Francis Higgins of Lima, Ill., and George Kirkpatrick of Charthage, Ill.
