Mary Newman (b. 1778, Hamilton, Lanarkshire) was daughter of Dr. Richard Newman TOLL (b. 1754, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, d. 1829), who assumed the surname and arms of NEWMAN by sign manual in 1802, and Grizel PARDY (b. abt. 1756, Hamilton, Lanarkshire) (Burkes Commoners vol. 2, pp 111-113, available on newman-family-tree.net website). Mary Newman married her 2nd husband William JACK, Glasgow merchant (Burkes Commoners vol. 2, pp 111-113), 5jun1809 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
