From "The Missoulian", September 20, 2003: Alice Lannegrand RICHLAND, Wash. - Alice Lannegrand, a longtime Missoula resident, passed away Sept. 3, 2003, in Richland from cancer.She was born Mary Alice Llewellyn on May 1, 1915, in St. Ignatius where she spent her early childhood; she later moved to Everett, Wash. The family then moved to Pasco in 1931, where she completed high school, graduating in 1934.She moved to Missoula and married John Duffy in the late 1930s. At the beginning of World War II she divorced Duffy and returned to Pasco where she worked for the U.S. Army Civilian Department at the Quarter Master Corps' Big Pasco warehouse site for the duration of the war.She returned to Missoula where she worked for the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph service for over 30 years. Her co-workers knew her as Duffy.During this time she met and married John Lannegrand. During their years together they enjoyed visiting the Llewellyn ranch in the Jocko Valley and Flathead Lake.Upon John's death in 1997, she moved to Ellensburg, Wash., to be near her family.She is survived by her brothers, John A. Llewellyn and his wife Barbara of Ellensburg, and Lawrence E. Llewellyn of Snohomish, Wash.; her sister, Lela M. Alexander and her husband Joe of Richland; niece Germaine Trenary and husband Don of Missoula; a cousin, Bob Llewellyn of Frenchtown; and numerous nieces and nephews.She has been interred in the Missoula Cemetery next to her husband John.
