Facts and Events
Mary "Keatts" is named in her father's will, written in Pittsylvania County, Virginia in 1802. There is circumstantial evidence to support William Keatts, b. abt. 1748 in Pittsylvania County, son of Curtis Keatts as Mary's husband. William named a wife "Mary" in his will, who apparently predeceased him prior to 1829. Some information listed as follows:
Re: Need 1st name of Keatts man who married Mary Lewis in Pitts. Co.,Va. bospa (View posts) Posted: 21 Jun 2005 4:11PM Classification: Query Surnames: Three Keatts brothers came to Pittsylvania and Halifax counties abt 1782 from Lunenburg. John and Charles settled in Pittsylvania County and William purchased land that was in both counties. We know who John and Charles married but all we had was William married a Mary and we cannot find any marriage records. In William's will probated 24 Aug 1829 in Halifax County he mentions no wife. In 1792 the brothers father Curtis purchased land from Zack Lewis in Pittsylvania County and moved from Lunenburg to live his remaining years with his family. His will was probated 18 Jun 1804 and among others John Lewis and William Lewis gave their securities. Based on your post William Keatts may have married Mary Lewis. |
