Facts and Events
On 11 May 2003 my sister Diane and I found Mary's tombstone in the Fairfax Plains Cemetery on McNall Rd. off Rt 128. It definitely showed her name to be Lent, not Lint. It appeared to be the original stone and had been repaired once. There was an epitath but it was unreadable. There were no other relatives nearby. Mary appears in the U.S. Census for 1880, living in Fairfax with son George and his children. Interestingly her birthplace is shown as NY as is that of both her parents. This conflicts with data supplied by David Ellis. "Vermont: Death Record, Fairfax VT reported death of Mary Boomhower (Lent) on 30-Oct-1880 of General debility at age 82 yrs. 4 mos. days, born in Highgate VT. Parents David Lent & Anna Becket. Widowed." Based on David still being in Greenbush, Rensselaer, NY in the 1800 census it seems more likely that Mary was born there and not Highgate. References
