MRS. MARY ANN PRESSEL

Aged 76, of Altoona, widow of Jacob Pressel, was found dead in bed at t he home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Ferry, on Poplar St, Roaring Spring wh ere she was visiting. At 7:30 Tuesday morning Mrs. Ferry discovered the de ad woman when she entered the room to awaken her, and as the body was sti ll warm it is evident that death had occurred but a short time previou s. An examination was made by Dr. W.H Robinson and showed that the aged wo man had suffered a stroke of paralysis. Mrs. Pressel went to Roaring Spri ng from Altoona about ten days ago to be with her sister, Mrs. Leah Lambo rn of Lawrence, Neb, who was visiting here after eight years absence. S he spent the time with her sister, Mrs. George Hengst of East Main St, Roa ring Spring, until Monday when she called on her niece, Mrs. Wm Ayers. Sho rtly before noon Monday she walked from the Ayers home to the Ferry home a nd on Monday night after a pleasant evening, retired about 10 o'clock appa rently feeling better than usual. At 2 o'clock Tuesday morning Mrs. Lambo rn visited her bedroom and talked with her. Mrs. Pressel stated that she f elt good. Mrs. Pressel suffered from a complication of diseases and althou gh able to be about had been in poor health since May. Prior to her marria ge Mrs. Pressel was Miss Klotz and she is the fourth member of the Klotz f amily to pass away in the past two months, two brothers and one sister pre ceded her this summer. She was a daughter of David and Mary Catharine Klot z, deceased and was born near King, Bedford CO May 20, 1842. She resid ed at home until 1863 when she married Jacob Pressel, also of Bedford C O. They began life together on Mr. Pressel's farm and resided there unt il 1897, when Mr. Pressel died. Following his death her parents resided wi th her on the farm for several years and then she disposed of the place a nd since then she made her home with her sons and daughters. Since early t his year she had been residing at the home of her son, Wm K Pressel, in Al toona. She was a lifelong member of the Barley Lutheran church, three mil es south of Baker's Summit. She is survived by four sons, Lloyd B Press el of 2310 West Chestnut Avenue, Wm K of Altoona, Harry of Lakemont, Reub en of New Enterprise; one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Ferry of Roaring Spring; o ne brother, John Klotz of Fishertown, two sisters, Mrs. A.W Lamborn of Law rence, Neb, Mrs. George Hengst of Roaring Spring, and one half-sister Mr s. Elmira Lamborn of New Enterprise. The funeral will be held on Thursd ay afternoon. Leaving the Furry residence at 1:30 o'clock the funeral cort ege will proceed to the Barley Lutheran church where services will be he ld in charge of Rev. H.E Berkey, pastor of the Roaring Spring Lutheran chu rch. Interment will be made in the Barley Lutheran cemetery, adjoining t he church.
