Charlotte was the youngest daughter of Marsh and Kathleen Kennedy. She had naturally curly very dark hair and hazel eyes. She was very ill when she was a small child with various stomach problems. She was a good student and had a beautiful alto voice. She even sang on the radio in Ft. Worth. She swore that she wouldn't go with anyone who was shorter than she was. At 5'9" tall she was a big girl, but met and married W. N. Helm (Dub) who was over 6' tall. She became a member of the Church of Christ because he was a member even though she had been raised in the First Congregational Church. She was a marvelous cook and hosted all the fami ly get-togethers for Christmas, Easter and whenever there was a special occasion. She was a loving mother, doting on her children, but felt life was over when her husband died at 39 years old of a massive stroke. She sat at his side for 6 months before he died. She was the one who took care of her mother, taking her to the cemetery weekly, always seeing to her welfare . She left an endowment in her will for her mother's care. She developed breast cancer shortly after W. N. died, had a total mastectomy and two years later the cancer was back only this time in her liver and her lungs. Her death left three

children without either parent. Dub III was 18, Linda was 8 and Marsha was only 6. They were reared by their Aunt Ruth, their mother's oldest sister.
