James Howard Jr. and George Montgomery of Butler Co OH boug ht land together in Decatur Co IN 1824 from Thomas` 1855 statement: The discharges before spoken, were in his possession at th e time of the death of said Hugh, but they were destroyed s hortly after his death, with other old papers, being then t hought valueless, by James Howard at Decatur County who i s also dead.
