Mary Fursman's origins have yet to be established. It is possible she was the Mary Fursman baptised at Bere Ferrers in 1723, but proof of this has yet to be established.

Mary's first confirmed sighting is on 7th September 1746 when she married John Drake at Bere Ferrers. They had two children baptised at Bere Ferrers: Elizabeth in 1747 and John in 1754.

Mary died in 1763 and was buried at Bere Ferrers on 16th June 1763, leaving John with the two children who were fifteen and nine years old when she died. John survived her by just under seven years.
