    Bio: Mary B. Althauser age 92 of Kenton passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday December 26, 2015 at the Hardin Hills Health Center. She was born July 8, 1923 in Amanda, Ohio the daughter of the late John A. and Hazel (Seitz) Ellis. On January 31, 1942 she married Carl Greentree and he passed away on December 10, 1972. Then on February 14, 1974 she married Edward Althauser and he survives in Kenton. Mary is survived by her sons, Mac (Kathy) Greentree of Postville, Iowa, Gene (Sherry) Greentree of Kenton, Ohio, Jay (Jean) Greentree of Rochester, Minnesota, and Gerald (Nancy) Althauser of Kenton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild and great grandchild. She was a graduate of the Marseilles High School class of 1941, had Psychiatric training from the Mental Health Hospital in Independence, Iowa in 1963, and studied at Apollo Vocational School in Lima taking classes to become a Home Health Nursing Assistant. Mary was retired from Nursing and retired from Hardin County Home Health in August of 1984. She was the first Home Health Assistant hired in Hardin County. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kenton where she was active in the Mary Martha Circle; the Hardin County Farm Bureau; and was a 7th Degree member of Goshen Grange. Her hobbies and passions included playing the piano, playing the accordion, and singing; taking care of her grandchildren when they were young; traveling with her husband;, and caring for the elderly. Funeral services for Mary B. Althauser will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Kenton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 2, 2016 with Reverend Jonathan Hanover officiating. Burial will follow the service in Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the SCHINDEWOLF STOUT CRATES FUNERAL HOME on Friday January 1, 2016 from 1 to 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Kenton First United Methodist Church and/or the Hardin County Humane Society.
