WIFE'S SCREAMS BRING HUSBAND
The husband lighted the stove about 1 p. m., Thursday to boil some water and a few minutes later heard his wife's screams when her clothing caught fire when she is believed to have been reaching for some article on a shelf above the stove.
Herring rushed in from an adjoining room and observed his wife standing with her clothing in flames he obtained a bucket of water with which he extinguished the blaze and then turned off the stove. No damage was caused to the home.
Mrs. Herring was taken to the hospital in a C. B. Miller and Son ambulance.

Mrs. Mary Collins Herring, 86, Spencerville.
Mrs. Herring, who has been blind for a past 15 years, was burned in her home at Spencerville about 1 p. m., Thursday and died at 6:30 p. m., in St. Rita's hospital.
Mrs. Herring and her husband, who is 86 and nearly blind, have lived alone for several years in their small home at Spencerville and have been using a gasoline stove for doing their cooking.
