While the Cooley Genealogy indicates that she is the daughter of Capt. John Burt and Mary Wright, other genealogists of John Burt and Mary Wright indicate that their daughter Mary Burt married in 1752 a Joseph Hitchcock who did not die until 1788. Source for this latter information appears to be the Historical Celebration of the Town of Brimfield, Hampden County, Mass., p. 410 and/or p. 174.

Therefore, it is imperative to find the marriage record of Caleb Cooley and Mary Burt and confirm her parentage.
