Mary's parents emigrated to a different Friends Monthly Meeting as was the custom during that time. They moved from Rhode Island to the Oblong M.M. near Pawling, Dutchess County, southeastern New York State. It's not yet clear how Mary & John met, or how some of the Bull family ended up in mid 1700's Manchester, Vermont. But the families became so close that one new baby was named Smith Bull. 2/4/01

"Mary, b: 17 Jan, 1748/9; m: John Smith and lived in Manchester, VT. He was supposed to have been born in England, 1745. They were probably the John Smith family in Manchester, VT in 1790 at 2-4-6 and two away from her brother Thomas Bull. Deborah Chipman was one after John Smith."
