Received her music degree from the Drake School of Music in Chicago, and also studied in New York in the 1910s. She taught private violin lessons for 68 years, beginning in the 1910s and ending only when she broke her hip in the mid-1980s. She also taught at Missouri Southern and served as concert-mistress for the Joplin Civic Orchestra for over 20 years. In her 50s and 60s, she would begin private lessons at 6:30 in the morning, move on to the public schools, and then Missouri Southern, returning home late in the evening.
