Rev. Marvin Campbell, 95 of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville.
He was born November 6, 1919 in White Plains, KY to the late Jessie Campbell and Emmer Cleveland Gipson Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Campbell, 2009, one daughter, Patricia Curtis, one son, Leonard Campbell, grandsons, Richard Roden and Robert Curtis, grandson in law Wesley Littlepage, one son in law, Rev. Alfred Roden, three brothers, Hershel, Ed, and Hobart Croxton; one sister, Mattie Hendricks,.
Rev. Campbell pastored at Coiltown Pentecostal Church, Empire Full Gospel Church, Grapevine Holiness Church, Hall St. Apostolic Church, was a Sunday school superintendent at Greater Lighthouse Church. He attended Empire Full Gospel Church. He loved to play music, playing his guitar and harmonica, and singing. He retired from Island Creek Coal - East Diamond and Fies #9. He was a member of UMWA and loved his dog, Diamond.
He is survived by four daughters and sons in law, Shirley and Billy Curneal of Madisonville; Carolyn Roden of Madisonville; Brenda and Doug Arnold of Madisonville; Norma and Dennis Tapp of Madisonville, KY; two sons and daughters in law, Herb and Tracy Campbell of Gordo, AL and Jessie and Theresa Campbell of Manitou, KY; 25 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren;
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Hendricks, Rev. Roger Fuller, Rev. Jessie Campbell, and Rev. Herb Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Madisonville.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Research, Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
